What is a Microchip?

A microchip is your pet's permanent ID. A pet microchip—the size of a grain of rice—goes beneath your pet's skin. This permanent ID can never be removed or become impossible to read. Here at North Canton Vet we use Homeagain Microchips, and they can use this ID to contact you and reunite you with your pet.

Dog and cat microchipping is a simple procedure. One of our veterinarians or technicians simply injects a microchip for pets, about the size of a grain of rice (12mm), beneath the surface of your pet's skin between the shoulder blades. The process is similar to an injection and takes only a few seconds. No anesthetic is required. Then we read the microchip with a universal scanner to make sure that it’s implanted and working correctly. From there we have you will out a form with information (name, address, email) we need to get you signed up for your subscription to Home again and your done!
